I’ve spent years working as a filmmaker, capturing stories and preserving moments through the lens. But everything changed when I was handed a box of my grandparents’ old 8mm film reels. I wanted to see what was on them. My family’s history, my relatives as kids, loved ones who had passed but I was shocked by how expensive and impersonal most digitizing services were.

So I decided to learn the process myself. Using my filmmaking background, I taught myself how to properly scan, and restore old film. When I showed the converted footage to my family, I watched their faces light up as they saw memories they hadn’t seen in decades. My grandparents young again, my mom and dad growing up, moments long forgotten.

That experience made me realize how meaningful these films truly are. And it inspired me to become a local, affordable option for others who want to preserve their family history without mailing their memories across the country or paying outrageous prices.
